My name is Paula Beatriz Soares. I’m from São Paulo, a Capricorn with Pisces rising. Since childhood, I’ve always loved different forms of creation. I danced for many years before choosing the camera as another possibility for movement.

Today, besides photography, I also work as a video editor and videomaker, having worked on political campaigns creating and editing audiovisual content.

Without realizing it, this process had already begun in my childhood. My family had a small analog camera, and I treated it almost like a ritual, carefully framing everyone within the same image.

Still, Paula the photographer would not exist without Paula the dancer, choreographer — and perhaps even more choreographer than anything else. Dance taught me about time, presence, and listening, elements that also shape my photographic and audiovisual perspective.

I love observing my creations from a distance. It’s my way of telling myself that it was all worth it.

Me chamo Paula Beatriz Soares, sou paulista, capricorniana com ascendente em peixes. Desde criança, sempre amei as diversas formas de criação. Dancei por muitos anos até escolher a câmera como mais uma possibilidade de movimento.

Hoje, além da fotografia, também atuo como editora de vídeo e videomaker, tendo trabalhado em campanhas políticas na criação e edição de conteúdos audiovisuais.

Mas, sem perceber, esse processo já havia começado na infância. Minha família tinha uma pequena câmera analógica, e eu tinha um cuidado quase ritual em enquadrar todos no mesmo quadro.

Ainda assim, a Paula fotógrafa não existiria sem a Paula dançarina, coreógrafa — e talvez ainda mais coreógrafa do que tudo. A dança me ensinou sobre tempo, presença e escuta, elementos que atravessam também o meu olhar fotográfico e audiovisual.

Amo observar minhas criações de longe. É uma forma de dizer a mim mesma que valeu a pena.
